Thank you for the information on AVG. I am unable to see "delete update temp file" on my screen. Opened the main AVG screen (the one with the 7 components shown), double clicked the update mgr., selected tools at the top of the screen, advanced settings, but was unable to locate anything that said "delete update temp files". What am I doing wrong? Am I starting in the wrong place?

I have three suggestions for remediation:

1. Download and reinstall AVG. First download the latest version. Then go to Ad and Remove Programs in your control panel, and remove AVG. When it asks if you want to remove user profiles, select yes. Now reinstall AVG and update it. It should work.

2. Follow this tip from the support forums. Re: After downloading update, wants to reboot to install. Unfortunately, is suspect the problem may resurface again.

3. Download AVAST antivirus and replace AVG. After downloading AVAST, remove AVG as outlined in option 1. Then install AVAST.

Let us know how this works.

Thanks for your help. I finally gave up on AVG. Followed your advice on avast and am very satisfied. What a difference! Even enjoy the update voice.
